    Established in 1973‚ ELEC monitors the campaign financing of all elections in the State. Whether the election is for Governor or Mayor‚ member of the Legislature or a City Council‚ candidates and campaign organizations are required to file with the Commission contribution and expenditure reports.

2017 Gubernatorial General Election Debates

New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark

Tuesday October 10, 2017 at 7 p.m.

Participants: Gubernatorial candidates Republican Kimberly Guadagno and Democrat Phil Murphy

The event will be held at Prudential Hall at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The center is partnering with WABC-TV in New York, WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Univision in New York and Philadelphia, NJ Advance Media, NJBIZ, NJ Spotlight, El Diario, Rutgers University, League of Women Voters NJ, Lead NJ, and National Association of Latino Elected Officials.

Montclair State University, Montclair

Monday October 16, 2017 at 8 p.m.

Participants: Lieutenant Governor candidates Republican Carlos Rendo and Democrat Sheila Oliver

The event will be held at the 200-seat Presentation Hall in the School of Communication and Media building on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair. Montclair State University is sponsoring the debate along with NJTV, WNET and C-SPAN.

William Paterson University, Wayne

Wednesday October 18, 2017 at 7 p.m.

Participants: Gubernatorial candidates Republican Kimberly Guadagno and Democrat Phil Murphy

William Paterson’s partners include WCBS-TV in New York, WKYW-TV in Philadelphia, The Record and other Gannett New Jersey newspapers.

The general election is November 7, 2017.
